RAC contributes sponsorship to support initiatives that advocate for safe, sustainable and accessible mobility with road safety being a key priority. RAC also provides its one million members with opportunities to enjoy activities and benefits that are uniquely West Australian. Sponsorship examples over the past 12 months include: * The two RAC Rescue helicopters, WA’s only 24/7 emergency rescue helicopters that have flown over 6500 missions since 2003 saving countless lives; * WA’s premier sport and entertainment venue, RAC Arena, which hosts more than 80 events every year; * The RAC Derby, a great platform to start a conversation with AFL fans and their families about the deadly impact driver distraction and inattention has on our community; * The RAC WA Sports Star Awards which recognise excellence in sport and celebrate the achievements of sports people from WA on and off the field; * Partnering with Surfing WA to bring you the #NoTxtNoWrecks campaign to promote the dangers of driver inattention; * The RAC Christmas Pageant which brings the magic of Christmas to the city of Perth each year. * The “From Hooves to Highways: The History of the Motor Car in Western Australia” exhibition at the Museum of Perth; * The Motor Museum of WA has been a part of the WA motoring community since 1994; * The RAC Volunteering Award which recognises volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution and have positively impacted the lives of others and their community at the Regional Achievement and Community Awards; * Network Teach, supporting the delivery of 530 RAC Little Legends Club road safety lessons in primary schools; * PBF Australia (The Paraplegic Benefit Fund) to deliver 230 co-branded road safety presentations in secondary schools; * School Sport WA’s Senior High Schools Country Week, generating initiatives aimed at increasing road safety awareness amongst regional students; * The Elephant in the Wheatbelt, road safety campaign, aimed at helping to reduce the devastating road toll in the region. The campaign featured a life-sized Elephant in the Wheatbelt sculpture made out of crashed cars, as a symbol of the continued silence about the impact of road trauma in the Wheatbelt community. Wheatbelt residents have since taken on the challenge to become road safety ambassadors for their communities; and * In 2018, a new children’s storybook tilted ‘My Family, The Elephant and Me’ was released by RAC. The book was delivered to all primary school students across the Wheatbelt and coincided with the painting of six unique road safety murals in towns across the region.

In Australia we support a number of charities, including The Cancer Council (through our annual Biggest Morning Tea bake-off), Movember – for men’s health (you can read about the efforts of Team LuMOnary here: http://bit.ly/luminary-mo-files), and Food for Families, through our annual Christmas food appeal. In Bali, our charity partner is the Jodie O’Shea Orphanage (www.careforkidsbali.com/). The orphanage, on the outskirts of the city of Denpasar, is home to nearly 100 children ranging in age from six months to 19 years. It was established in 2005 in memory of Australian woman and Bali bombing victim Jodie O’Shea. Our support for the orphanage allows us to make a difference in a way that brings our Australian and Bali alliances together. Our main avenue of support comes in the form of donations of food, toys and essential items. We also provide them with our old computers to support the kids’ ongoing education. (For more on our involvement with the Jodie O’Shea Orphanage, see our blog post: http://bit.ly/JodieOsheaOrphanage). As well as the above charity initiatives, we have a strong charity and NFP clientele, and provide heavily discounted services to our clients in this sector (see https://www.luminary.com/). Over the past year, we have provided digital services to a range of charity organisations, including: Save the Children, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Beyondblue and Kidney Health Australia. We also provided digital services on a pro bono basis to The Shrine of Remembrance for many years.
